Weddings Commission Work FAQ
Is there anything I should know before scheduling you?
It is important that you have taken time to look through my website. By looking through the recent photos on my Instagram or Facebook, you can get a feel for my photography style. It’s also important to have an understanding of my pricing.
How far in advance should I schedule your services?
I typically book several months ahead, sometimes earlier during the busy summer. Occasionally I will have an opening or a canceled session, contact me as soon as possible to inquire, to confirm, or ask about a specific date.
Do you travel?
Yes, I do! Locations outside of a 45 miles radius of Iowa City will require an additional travel fee. I love road trips throughout the Midwest. I encourage you to contact me for assignments throughout the Midwest.
How do I book you?
Contacting me. Please fill out the contact form completely. I will respond back within a timely manner.
How long does this process take?*
From start to finish, the process in some cases can actually take a couple of months, depending on the needs of the assignment, the schedule and my workload. But the end results are well worth it. Here’s a timeline for a typical assignment:
- 2 to 6 weeks– booking, planning, and getting ready for the session.
- 1-3 hours – the session itself.
- Up to 3 weeks after the session, you’ll receive your images!
- 1-2 weeks after that – design work, revisions, & organizing your final order
- And then 1-2 weeks after all design work/revisions are done, you should receive any remaining shipments.
*Time will vary by assignment, please check the FAQ of your particular category of photos for farther information. This timeline is based on a typical wedding assignment, commercial or editorial photography can be conducted in a much more expedited matter.

Why do we have to do Pre-production and/or Preparation?
In the fashion, glamour, commercial and related advertising industries – pre production or pre shoot meetings are a given. A photo shoot in these industries never goes ahead without a pre-production meeting. There is simply too much at risk not to have one.
In the case of wedding photography and related sessions, pre-meetings can help establish time, locations, and much more.
Where will we meet?
We will meet at in either the studio or on location.
How much does it cost?
Can you hold my date without a deposit?
Unfortunately, no. I require a non-refundable retainer fee to reserve your date. If your retainer fee is not paid within 72 hours of booking, the electronic invoice will be canceled and the date becomes available.
How long do you keep my images on file?
Your files are kept for 30 days, after that period all final images will be stored externally for at least a year. * Within that year, if you would like to place another order or replace a lost or stolen CD, please contact me.
*Time will vary by assignment, please check the FAQ of your particular category of photos for farther information.
